DRCA is the volunteer community association for Discovery Ridge. Its optional household membership supports recreation, events and resident advocacy, including member-and-guest court use. It is separate from the New Discovery Homeowners' Association and the mandatory property charge that NDHA administers.

Important rules

  • Use the member portal for court entry

    Association-published

The tennis gates use a member code. Obtain it through your DRCA account. NDHA payment alone does not establish DRCA court membership.

  • Share courts when others are waiting

    Association-published

Tennis limits are 30 minutes for singles and 45 for doubles. Mini-courts have a 30-minute limit, with priority for children/families and pickleball. Scheduled association activities take priority.

  • Keep tennis courts for tennis

    Association-published

No dogs, bicycles, skateboards or inline skates on tennis courts. Keep surfaces clear and avoid leaning on nets. Pickleball belongs on the designated mini-courts.

  • Check rink status before going

    Association-published

Published winter use hours are 9:00 am–8:30 pm when open. Volunteer flooding occurs later in the evening. Follow closures and posted conditions; the seasonal schedule does not mean ice is available year-round.

  • Picnic use is first come, first served

    Association-published

The green space, tables and benches beside the warmup hut are shared. Take excess garbage away if it will not fit in a bin with the lid shut.

  • Confirm voting and proxy instructions

    Research required

The posted bylaws give adult members voting rights, but IV.10.1 mentions proxies and then requires in-person voting. Obtain written meeting instructions before relying on a proxy.

  • Moving out does not create a refund

    Association-published

Bylaw III.10 provides no fee reimbursement on moving away and permits voluntary withdrawal. This concerns DRCA membership, not release of an NDHA title charge.

Boundary and coverage

Operational coverage

The posted bylaws admit Discovery Ridge residents. Confirm registration eligibility directly; the municipal map shown here is neighbourhood context, not a surveyed membership boundary.

No property-specific title instrument has been verified for this profile. Request the property's title and registered instruments, then confirm their scope with the association and your closing professional.

    Common misconception

    Limits of the association’s role

    • DRCA dues do not pay the NDHA property account or any condominium charges.
    • Griffith Woods is City-managed. Nearby nature trails do not create private lake privileges.
    • Buying a membership does not establish approval for changes to a home, fence or property.

    What to verify

    Buyer and seller checklists

    Buyer checklist

    1. 01Identify NDHA, DRCA and any condominium corporation separately.
    2. 02Confirm the current household term, GST and registration details before joining.
    3. 03For a tenant household, register directly rather than relying on an owner's HOA receipt.
    4. 04Check court rules and seasonal rink status for the activities you expect to use.
    5. 05Ask DRCA about additional adults, guest supervision and non-resident eligibility.
    6. 06Review the latest bylaws, meeting instructions, budget and financial statements.
    7. 07Obtain property-specific title and account information from the relevant HOA and closing professional.

    Seller checklist

    1. 01Keep DRCA membership records separate from the NDHA account statement.
    2. 02Direct the buyer to DRCA for their own registration and current entry instructions.
    3. 03Do not advertise court access as automatically transferred by the house sale.
    4. 04Tell DRCA about your move and confirm the account update process.
