McKenzie Lake

The Federation of Calgary Communities traces the area's transition from farming to residential development: annexation by Calgary in 1970, followed by neighbourhood development beginning in 1982. The community association identifies its own establishment as 1984, a separate organizational milestone.

McKenzie Lake sits east of the Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park. The Federation lists the community association's broad service area between 130 Avenue, Deerfoot Trail, the southern highway corridor and the river. That description is not a legal lake-membership boundary.

McKenzie Lake Community Association operates at 16198 McKenzie Lake Way SE and offers recreation, facility rentals, before-and-after-school programs and events. Its published annual membership is $25 plus GST and provides access to its programs and rental discounts.

MLCA is separate from McKenzie Lake Residents Association, which operates the lake for eligible properties. Community membership does not establish lake access, and program registration or rental costs are additional matters to confirm with MLCA.

MLCA's rental page describes a gym with a warming kitchen, tables and chairs, and a stated 200-person capacity. It lists $75 per hour for members and $85 for non-members. The flex room lists a 20-person capacity and rates of $45 and $50 per hour respectively.

The page requires a $500 damage deposit for indoor rentals and limits Saturday gym rentals to three-hour blocks. Tax treatment is not stated beside these rental rates. Obtain a current quote, permitted capacity and booking conditions; membership is not an all-inclusive facility pass.

MLCA describes outdoor-arena rentals as weather dependent and reserved for the booking party. Its page lists $50 per hour, or $75 with change-room and bathroom use, without stating tax treatment. Check conditions and available time before planning a gathering.

Separately, the City's outdoor-fitness inventory lists a recumbent cycle and cardio walker at 19 Mt Brewster Place SE. This public park listing is distinct from MLRA's private lake facilities; it is not evidence of lake eligibility or a current equipment-condition check.
