Parks & recreation

The lake at the centre of Auburn Bay

Association-published

Auburn House's outdoor setting combines a 43-acre lake with a 13-acre park. The association lists a splash park, play equipment, fishing dock, boathouse, courts and picnic shelters among its facilities. These are residents-association amenities, with membership and guest conditions governing entry.

When evaluating a home, distinguish general lake-and-park membership from any private dock, gate or access route associated with that property. Ask the association to confirm the specific rights before relying on a waterfront or lake-access description.

Parks & recreation

Courts, beach days and winter recreation

Association-published

The park includes beach volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts, an amphitheatre and a fishing dock. Its winter facilities are described as including a toboggan hill, hockey and leisure skating surfaces, a lake skating loop and crokicurl.

These describe the seasonal recreation offering, not today's operating conditions. Check ABRA's current notices before visiting, particularly for lake and ice activities, and confirm any booking or equipment requirements.

Development history

The separate community association

Secondary source

The Federation of Calgary Communities records Auburn Bay Community Association's society registration as March 2, 2010. This is an organizational milestone, separate from the neighbourhood's development and the residents association's lake operation.

ABCA describes itself as volunteer-based, supporting local initiatives and representing residents with government, schools and police. Its optional annual membership is advertised at $25 and supports events and operating expenses. That membership is separate from the residents-association account attached to a home.

Planning & change

A proposed community centre

Association-published

ABCA identifies land at 234 Auburn Bay Avenue for its community-association site. Its published description says the site has a storage shed for event equipment and that fundraising aims to support a future building.

A new community centre is therefore a stated goal, not an additional operating clubhouse to count among a property's amenities. Auburn House is the separate existing residents-association facility. No funded construction schedule or opening date is established by the cited page.
