About Cranston

Cranston has two annual fee classes: standard/commercial and Riverstone. Research the relevant service area before comparing prices. Century Hall privileges, rental transfers and supplementary maintenance are separate questions from the condition of an individual home.

Parks & recreation

Century Hall: gathering space and resident recreation

Association-published

Century Hall is the neighbourhood's 22,000-square-foot gathering facility, with banquet, meeting and multipurpose rooms. Indoor rentals accommodate private functions, with room bookings handled separately from everyday resident recreation.

An indoor booking does not include access to Century Hall Park or its outdoor amenities. The park, splash park and rink cannot be reserved for exclusive group use. Plan the indoor event and any permitted resident-and-guest recreation separately; a view of the park from a rented room is not an outdoor booking.

Riverstone pathways and enhanced maintenance

Association-published

The RA maintains selected neighbourhood features such as the Art Park, Windmill, decorative corners and Riverstone gazebo. Other work takes place under developer or City agreements. An association crew working on a pathway does not establish that the association owns the land.

In Riverstone, approved City-owned spaces receive additional maintenance under Greenspace and snow-and-ice agreements. The summer scope includes supplemental grass cutting, shrub-bed care and mulch replacement. The published pathway-edge cut is seasonal work, described as three or four cuts, rather than continuous mowing.

Use the RA's service-area information when comparing an Upper Cranston home with one in Riverstone. These services help explain the separate fee tiers, but do not establish that every nearby park, tree or pathway receives the same work.

Borrowing tools and outdoor equipment

Association-published

The Cranston Tool & Outdoor Equipment Library lists hand and power tools, garden equipment, ladders, wheelbarrows, outdoor games, kayaks and paddleboards. Borrowers need a separate library account, must be at least 18 and must sign the required waiver. The catalogue shows availability, but advance and telephone reservations are not offered.

Published borrowing periods are three days for most tools, seven for game bins and five for outdoor equipment. Game bins and outdoor equipment cannot be renewed. Borrowing and returns have their own staffed hours, and major events can interrupt service. Check the item terms and any charges before collecting equipment; late fees apply.

What to verify

Buyer checklist

Cranston Residents Association

  1. 01Confirm whether the property is invoiced as standard/commercial or Riverstone.
  2. 02Request the current account balance and registered encumbrance.
  3. 03Ask which maintenance agreements cover the immediate area.
  4. 04For a basement suite, resolve who keeps Century Hall privileges before offering them in a lease.
  5. 05Have the law office submit the required resale HOA fee request.
  6. 06Review current rules for youth, childcare and guest attendance.
  7. 07Obtain the registered encumbrance and River Lands definition; the posted brochure extract does not establish the property's fee zone.
