Development history

A shared community centre with roots in 1977

Association-published

Mid-Sun dates its founding to 1977 and the construction of its current facility to 1987. It reports later building upgrades between 2015 and 2019. The association serves both Midnapore and Sundance; these are milestones in the community organization's history, not the construction dates of the two lakes.

Community-centre activities beyond the lake

Association-published

Mid-Sun offers fitness, sport, creative and social activities to residents across Calgary. Optional membership can provide discounts, while some activities require membership. Room rentals, childcare and individual programs have their own registration and availability.

The centre is separate from the private lake facilities. Before paying or booking, check the operator: a Mid-Sun registration does not supply lake privileges, and a lake card does not reserve a community-centre room.

Parks & recreation

Mid-Sun Community Garden

Association-published

Residents established the garden in May 2009 on the north side of the community centre, initially building thirty raised beds. The association now describes 62 beds, shared fruit and herb growing, and beds maintained for food-bank donations.

Plots require an application and assignment. The 2026 notice says plot and outstanding membership charges follow assignment; it does not publish a plot price. Confirm availability and the current gardener handbook with the garden committee.
