About Arbour Lake

Arbour Lake has four published fee classes, including condominium units. General lake membership and the right to use a particular private access walkway are different matters. Verify both the invoice class and any access instrument before treating proximity to the shore as a privilege.

Development history

From 1991 showhomes to a 1993 lake opening

Association-published

The residents association traces the neighbourhood's lake concept to Melcor Developments and inspiration from Southern California lake communities. Its history records the first Arbour Lake showhomes in 1991 and the lake filling and opening for recreation in 1993.

The same account dates the residents association's registration as an Alberta limited company to July 19, 1991. The company was established to care for and improve community amenities, centred on the ten-acre lake. These are the association's published historical dates; the opening of the lake and registration of the company are separate milestones.

Parks & recreation

A lake that needs ongoing care

Association-published

Arbour Lake is a constructed, lined lake with a managed ecosystem. The residents association describes aeration and circulation equipment, water-quality monitoring and shoreline care as part of its work. The lake's appearance is only one part of maintaining it; aquatic vegetation also supports fish habitat.

Swimming, boating, fishing and winter activities depend on the operator's rules, conditions and access requirements. The association's undated lake overview includes improvement and fish-stocking descriptions that should not be read as a current operating notice. Check the lake rules and current notices before planning an activity.

Parks & recreation

Neighbourhood projects beyond the lake gates

Association-published

Arbour Lake Community Association supports neighbourhood activities outside the lake boundary. Its separate voluntary membership is advertised at $25 for January through December. ALCA says it receives no share of annual lake dues and has no connection to operating the lake or residents hall.

One of its neighbourhood projects is the Little Free Library at Arbour Crest Drive and Arbour Crest Heights. The association's account describes a resident-hosted, volunteer-built book exchange funded with community membership support. It is a different kind of amenity from the private lake: a place to take or leave a book during a neighbourhood walk.

Outdoor fitness park: a public recreation reference

Historical

Older association post; current condition unconfirmed

ALCA's fitness-park post identifies the outdoor equipment at 555 Arbour Lake Drive, near its community soccer green space. It describes free public use and a recommended age of 13 and above. This is an older published access description, not confirmation that every piece of equipment is currently available; check posted notices and report repair needs to the association.
