Development history
A northwest community established in 1990
The Federation of Calgary Communities dates Hamptons' establishment to 1990, following annexations of its southern and northern lands in 1976 and 1989. It describes a gently rolling upland setting north of Edgemont.
Its community-association boundary description uses Stoney Trail, Shaganappi Trail, Country Hills Boulevard and Sarcee Trail. These geographic limits do not override the HOA's published property exclusions.

Public recreation with community upkeep
The association's FAQ identifies the tennis courts, rink and community parking lot as City property open beyond Hamptons residents. It also describes HOA-funded landscaping and snow clearing on designated pathways; this does not cover every path or street.
