Housing & households

Detached houses and attached homes

Historical

2021 Census — historical housing snapshot

The City's 2021 profile records 1,945 single-detached homes (86% of occupied dwellings), 140 semi-detached homes (6%) and 175 row houses (8%). The structure table totals 2,265 occupied dwellings; rounding can make categories and totals differ.

These are building forms at the census date. They do not establish condominium ownership, current listings or CRRA participation. An attached home can require a separate condominium and title review, while a detached home is not automatically inside the association's fee area.

Development history

Most recorded homes date from the 2000s

Historical

Construction periods reported in the 2021 Census

The profile places 1,785 occupied homes (79%) in the 2001–2010 construction period and 330 (15%) in 2011–2015. Smaller shares fall in earlier or later periods. This describes the age of the recorded housing stock; it is not a neighbourhood founding date or a chronology of each development phase.

Schools & enrollment

West Ridge School and address-based designation

Government-published

West Ridge School describes itself as a Grade 5–9 school serving West Springs and Cougar Ridge. It opened in January 2017, and its name combines the two communities after consultation with families, students and staff.

Use CBE's school finder with the exact home address, intended grade and program. Review the designated school and walk zone separately, and confirm the current school year's placement and transportation conditions. Proximity to a school or membership in CRRA does not establish admission. Elementary, high-school and other school-authority options require their own checks.

Parks & recreation

WinSport recreation has its own access requirements

Association-published

WinSport owns and operates Canada Olympic Park, with seasonal skiing, snowboarding, tubing, mountain biking and mini-golf, plus indoor ice facilities and training spaces. These nearby recreation options have their own operating schedules, registration and charges.

The operator identifies the park as private property and restricts some areas. Its main ski and snowboard hill and mountain-bike trails require a valid pass or ticket during operating hours. Living nearby or paying a neighbourhood maintenance invoice does not replace those requirements; check the activity's current access information before visiting.

Parks & recreation

Landscaping services cover particular areas

Association-published

CRRA's work concerns designated green spaces, entrance features and landscaped medians. Its elected volunteer board works with FirstService Residential on administration and operations. This is a maintenance arrangement within two sections of Cougar Ridge, rather than a neighbourhood-wide private recreation membership.

A maintained entrance or nearby green space is not proof that a particular home pays CRRA dues. Confirm the legal lot, registered instrument and association account, especially when comparing homes in different development phases.
